EMMANUEL ANGLICAN CHURCH OAKLAND CALIFORNIA

TWO YEARS STILL COUNTING

To the Glory of God, the past two years has been that of hard work much more than of rest. We have  continued to struggle from one level to the other, but Being God has forever assured us that He will build His Church, and that no gate of hell will by any means prevail against her. This continued to be our Hope and Stay, knowing that this God who has promised, can never let us down, seeing that we have put our trust in him.

We started the year with our Annual Harvest which was held in November of 2016, this saw a lot of people in attendance. This was followed by the Christmas services and programs, that all went well. Coming into the year 2017, we had the first New year service in the Church with some people in attendance then followed by the third Sunday Igbo services, which has continued to bring in a lot of people into the Church. By March we had our first Ash Wednesday service. In April we had our second Palm Sunday and Easter service of the Church.

Between 2016 and date the Church witnessed one Marriage, three Confirmations and five Baptisms alongside various Wake keep and memorial services of our loved ones who has gone to be with the Lord.

The Church has also seen the passage of three Priests within this his short period of life in the persons of Canon Aaron Ajoku, Rev Ugochukwu Abiakam and just recently Rev Ndubuisi Amakaru. These we invited and helped to bring into the Country but the necessities of Ministry moved them to other locations for the furtherance of the gospel.

Outside this, we also helped the Rt Rev Godson Echefu and wife to come into United States for their vacation, first of its kind since after their retirement in 2003 from the Diocese of Ideato, Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria.

God has continued to show Himself Mighty on our behalf in attaining several heights which naturally takes some time to achieve, for His name sake, for which we will ever remain grateful.

When we started in 2015, it was in a Lutheran Church hall that could accommodate about Sixty persons. Then we moved into the Upper Room Chapel of Holy Redeemer Center, that takes about One Hundred and Fifty. Now by the beginning of the coming month, we will be moving into the St Peter’s Pro Cathedral Church on 6013 Lawton Avenue at Broadway Oakland, which could take about a Thousand seated members with a very big Reception Hall at the base to go by it.
